The initiative includes a fun TV advertising campaign starring Virgin Mobile founder Sir Richard Branson. One of them features ‘Young Branson’ and then shows him as a young man obsessed with the idea of launching Virgin Mobile. The idea of “unlimited data is what people need most today” goes through the whole campaign.

There is also a video message from Branson at www.virginmobileusa.com in which he declares his wish to make Virgin Mobile more consumer friendly. To reach the goal, the company introduces an unlimited data and messaging plan for just $35 per month. The campaign is running through March on television and social media online.

«Today the smartphone is the center of your universe,” said Branson. «And yet, nobody ever says, ‘I love my cell phone company.’ A Higher Calling will change all that. I’m very proud to be in this Virgin Mobile campaign.”

Additionally, the company has launched Virgin Mobile Live, the brand’s cultural content platform at www.virginmobilelive.com. The site is accessible via Facebook, Web, Tumblr and Pinterest and offers users daily original content, including streamed music, videos, photos and infographics.

Virgin Mobile will also feature weekly profiles of apps to help developers gain exposure, says The NY Times. The first app profile will be unveiled at the South by Southwest conference on Friday. VM 25, a team of 25 technology bloggers will help the company promote its contests.

Virgin has also launched its Virgin Digital Help online service in the U.S., available in the UK since 2009. Virgin Digital Help offers remote assistance over the telephone, through live and automated chat sessions, via email to its subscribers that pay $30 a month to use the service. Virgin Digital Help will diagnose and resolve any ‘digital-related’ problems remotely.

In December 2011, Virgin Mobile Australia gave away bicycles to celebrate the launch of summer season on the continent.
