Microsoft Introduces the New Company’s Logo

Microsoft updated its logo 25 years ago, pretty long ago for a company that stays a leading technology company in our fast changing time. But, yesterday, the tech giant has unveiled a new logo, which uses the same colors but looks more sleek and modern.

In February, Microsoft has redesigned a logo for Windows 8. The promotional video now demonstrates updated logos for the key company’s products such as Office and xBox.

“From Windows 8 to Windows Phone 8 to Xbox services to the next version of Office, you will see a common look and feel across these products providing a familiar and seamless experience on PCs, phones, tablets and TVs. This wave of new releases is not only a reimagining of our most popular products, but also represents a new era for Microsoft, so our logo should evolve to visually accentuate this new beginning,” wrote Jeff Hansen, general manager, brand strategy, Microsoft in a blogpost.

The new company’s logo has two revamped components: the logotype and the symbol. The logotype uses the Segoe font, the same font Microsoft utilizes for all its products. The symbol’s different colors reflect the company’s diverse portfolio of products.

The company is rolling out the new logo globally starting with its official website and three of its retail stores in Boston, Seattle’s University Village and Bellevue, Wash. The other stores logos will be updated over the next few months.
