Buenos Aires based package design agency Tridimage was chosen to redesign Antigua Cruz Tequila’s global packaging. Mexico based company Tequilera de Arandas, commissioned Tridimage to redesign Antigua Cruz Tequila’s structural and graphic package.
The previous bottle was also used by other Tequila brands, with the loss of uniqueness and differentiation, while the label design was not competitive in today’s dynamic international Tequila’s market. Tridimage created the structural design of a glass bottle with premium personality, standing out from the competition by using sophisticated and expressive resources of high visual impact.
The bottle facing is defined by a pointed arch -typical of Gothic architecture—with a central engraved medallion of the brand’s icon. The bottle has a faceted rectangular section. The agency wanted to achieve a delicate balance of a traditional and contemporary image. The new screen-printed graphics introduced a new icon and logo redesign that conveys the polarity between classicism and modernity. Antigua Cruz means Old Cross. Thus the new icon is formed by a cross intersected by blue agave leaves—origin of these Tequilas.
The structural and graphic design of the new presentation case plays with the brightness-matte opposition of its surface finish.
