BMW has revealed the first five international artists signed for the BMW Tate Live: Performance Room. The art program announced last year will encompass live online performances reaching international audiences around the world.

Participants include a choreographer and dancer Jérôme Bel and artists Pablo Bronstein, Harrell Fletcher, Joan Jonas and Emily Roysdon. There will be one live performance monthly at Tate Modern. It will be filmed and broadcasted online for audience to watch and ask artists questions via Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

The Performance Room can be accessed via www.tate.org.uk/bmwtatelive at 20.00 in the UK, 15.00 on the East Coast of America, 21.00 in mainline Europe and 23.00 in Russia. The first performance by Jérôme Bel will take place on March 22. The performance will feature Bel and a collection of T-shirts that are changed and removed to display different messages.

Next performance will be presented on April 26 by Pablo Bronstein who will work with up to 10 dancers to create a baroque stage set that enhances the perspective within the Performance Room. On May 31, Emily Roysdon will meditate on her own concept of the ‘ecstatic resistance’. On June 28, Harrell Fletcher will team up with local amateur performers. Using text, video and music they will create their own artistic piece. Joan Jonas will show her work somewhere between mid to early July or September. Jonas often creates narratives based on fairytales and folklore, using space, movement, ritual and gesture.
