Coca-Cola Great Britain Announces Support For WWF Earth Hour 2010

Coca-Cola Great Britain announced its support for WWF’s fourth annual Earth Hour, which takes place from 8.30-9.30pm Saturday 27th March 2010. This year WWF will once again be asking one billion people across the world to switch off their lights for one hour in support of action against climate change.

Coca-Cola will be showing its support by encouraging all 5,000 GB employees and its consumers alike to sign up to Earth Hour; commencing this Friday the 12th March via a bespoke advert to be aired on Coca-Cola’s iconic Piccadilly Circus sign for the full sixty minutes, only the fourth time the sign has been switched off since World War II.

Additional activity to support WWF’s Earth Hour this year will include an outdoor poster campaign plus promotional activity on ‘Coke Zone‘, the UK’s number one FMCG site. Coca-Cola will also be enlisting the support of Football League fans via a special half time announcement and programme advert at all Football League games taking place on the 27th March.

It’s anticipated that as a result of this campaign, Coca-Cola will have helped WWF to raise awareness amongst over 4 million people in the run up to Earth Hour.

The Coca-Cola Company and WWF have been working together since 2007 to tackle issues relating to water and energy. Through this partnership, The Coca-Cola Company has set global targets to increase water efficiency, reduce energy consumption in its production facilities, conserve the world’s key freshwater basins and address the environmental impact of agriculture.
