Converse, which celebrates creative independence and is committed to helping emerging musical talents to speak (or, sing and play) out, is bringing its unique experience, Converse Rubber Tracks, to a new land. The Brooklyn-based studio of the brand, where aspiring musicians can record their tracks free of charge, is arriving in Montreal, Canada next week, September 17-22. The “Converse Rubber Tracks in Montreal” pop-up studio will be opened as part of the POP Montreal International Music Festival.

The project, designed to champion the spirit of indie-music, officially opened its doors in July 2011,allowing emerging music talents to apply for a great opportunity to record their songs with the best equipment for free within 1-2 days allocated for each of the selected bands (they also reserve all rights for their product). The applications for the NY-studio are submitted online. The brand has already selected artists, who will record their songs at “Converse Rubber Tracks in Montreal” located at Montreal’s own Treatment Room Studios. The winners are Krystale, Silk Screaming, Couples and UBT—they will be given one of the four days to record their tracks in a pop-up studio, packed with the professional equipment and skilled sound engineers.

In addition to opening the studio, Converse will also host a series of activities during the four-day “City Carnage: Montreal” music and skateboarding event, which will feature a number of emerging performers including those who have already recorded their songs at Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn, NY.
