D Studio and Burnt Sugar Have Opened the Drawing Room in London

D Studio has worked with Burnt Sugar to create a live illustration event at Borough market, encompassing branding, signage, event graphics and installations. Burnt Sugar opened the doors to its drawing room on Thurs 6th October and invited budding illustrators to indulge in an uncapped scribbly celebration of individuality.

Throughout the course of the day the room was illustrated by Burnt Sugar pro doodlers Gemma Correll and Jess Wilson, who also created artwork for packs from the Burnt Sugar fudge range.

A competition was launched to design the bag to hold their lumpy bumpy fudge on the stall with the hope of unearthing fresh illustrative talent and generally getting people drawing and smiling. The participants were fuelled by Burnt Sugar fudge to keep energy levels up— doodling’s a strenuous task!

The two illustrators were also challenged to a ‘quick draw’, where they had 60 seconds to both illustrate a random word that was picked out of a hat— to perfectly random results.

The Burnt Sugar illustrative photo booth also attracted a crowd of eager participants who queued up to have their faces ‘painted’ by the super-talented Jess and Gemma.

“It was a great day that summed up the brand — it was all about bringing people together to celebrate individuality — which applies as much to the lumpy bumpy fudge as it does to the great variety of interesting folk who dropped by. What’s more it was great fun for all who got involved — many of whom called for it to be a regular thing, and hopefully it will be”, says Wes Anson, Creative Partner, d.studio.

The competition to design the Burnt Sugar Borough market bag runs until 30th November — for details on how to enter or to vote for your favourite entry go to www.burntsugar.co.uk/drawingroom.
