It will not be long that the whole world is on Facebook as it continues to round the digital globe. According to its founder Mark Zuckerberg the current number 500 million users will only continue to grow with a goal to reach 1 billion this year.
Zuckerberg, speaking on Wednesday, June 23, at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, believes that the domination will be complete with the conversion of Russia, Japan, China, and South Korea.

«We are down to just four countries where we aren’t the leading social network,» Zuckerberg stated.
He continued that he did not believe that Facebook would hit 1 billion users in 2010 but then added that «it is almost a guarantee that it will happen«.
«If we succeed [in innovating and remaining relevant] there is a good chance of bringing this to a billion people… it will be interesting to see how it plays out,» he said.
Zuckerberg pointed out that Facebook in Russia has only 1 million users but is «doubling every six months.» He went on to say that South Korea and Japan have statistics similar to this.
Facebook founder, who was awarded Media Person of the Year at the festival, stated that focus on advertising opportunities and applications will be important for the social media giant in the future. He also believes that Facebook needs to do as good a job building out its advertising offerings as it has done with its developer platform.
The star of the internet age also mentioned that Facebook is «squarely out of the experimentation phase,» and mentioned Nike‘s campaign as an example of successful promotion on the social network —the brand debuted its World Cup ads on Facebook and this resulted in 3 million new connections to its FB-page.
