Final Episode of BMW Documentaries Calls to Stop Worrying and Love the Future

Yesterday, February 22, 2011, BMW unveiled the fourth and the last episode in its futuristic series of documentaties at www.activatethefuture.com where astronauts, car design gurus and top automobile experts muse over the future of mobility.

In the last episode of the movie dubbed ‘How We’ll Learn To Stop Worrying And Love The Future’, experts present their thoughts on what they consider to be a dream transportation. Of course, there is no precise answer to this question, which proves that the future of mobility will largely depend on a person and will not end up in one means of transportation. Experts like Wired Editor-In-Chief Chris Anderson, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, futurist and conceptual designer for Blade Runner, Aliens and Tron, Syd Mead; Google VP Marissa Mayer, BMW DesignWorks USA President Laurenz Shaffer, Virgin Galactic President & CEO George Whitesides and others come up with the ideas ranging from mono-wheeled, gyroscopically balanced vehicles and up to totally adaptable cars that breathe with the owner and are ready to perform any whim.

«The film posits that we are all at the forefront of a transportation revolution and that the future of mobility has not been this exciting since the transition from the horse and buggy to automobiles. This next phase of mobility will surely affect everyone including automotive owners, drivers, renters, riders and enthusiasts, and will therefore necessitate a global cooperative effort to embrace change.  Individual vs. mass mobility and car ownership vs. car sharing will be among the many personal choices we will have to make in the future», says BMW on the main idea of the documentary produced by Prologue Pictures.

‘How We’ll Learn To Stop Worrying And Love The Future’ is the latest installment in the series of documentaries «Activate the Future”—an online campaign, by launching which BMW tends to gaze into the future.
