Friskies Has Launched the ‘You vs. Cat’ Game for People to Compete with their Cats

Friskies, the brand known for inventing a cat gaming category, introduces the first duel-species tablet game called ‘You vs. Cat’ for iPad. The duel-species concept means that the game is designed for two players—a human and a cat.

The both ‘species’ can have fun, while playing and trying to find out whose paws or fingers are faster. To start playing, the human player should launch up to five playing pieces onto the field where they collide and bounce around. The cat is supposed to catch pieces on the screen and score one point for each piece. The scores are being kept and uploaded to Internet through the You vs. Cat World-Wide Leaderboard. The game can be downloaded from the dedicated site or iTunes store for free.

“After such positive response to last year’s launch of several Friskies tablet games and apps for cats, we wanted to just keep pushing the play button. ’You vs. Cat’ takes the fun of feeding cats’ senses through play to a completely new level,” said Alison Coburn, Friskies Assistant Brand Manager. “With this new game we’re continuing to inspire curiosity and discovery beyond mealtime and bring something completely new to the world of cat play.”

Last month, the company hosted 10 cats for two weeks in the Friskies Plus Playhouse, a play space for cats that was broadcasted live on the Friskies Facebook page. The cats belonged to the MeoowzResQ network of foster cats available for adoption. Facebook users could interact with cats using three mechanical toys that could be selected to operate four fully movable cameras with zooms.

Friskies offers a variety of computer and tablet games and apps for cats and humans The platform at GamesForCats.com launched in 2011 features popular games including Cat Fishing and Party Mix Up, which have been played more than 500,000 times. In 2010, Friskies ‘signed’ several cats to shoot a real movie.

Friskies also has its own cat ‘gamer,’ Buddy. The cat competed with bear, horse and bird mascots playing ‘You vs. Cat’ during the college basketball season.
