Gucci, which is owned by French company PPR, turns 90 years old this year. In honor of nine decades of timeless design, and typically in its grand style, Gucci is celebrating this momentous occasion with a series of outstanding events: debuting the luxurious ‘Aquariva’ boat, the ‘500 by Gucci’ edition of the Fiat 500, personally customized by Gucci Creative Director, and launch of the Gucci Museum in Florence this September.«Throughout this year we are celebrating Gucci’s anniversary in many different ways. With this special commemorative collection I wanted to pay homage to the icons, craftsmanship and luxury materials for which the House has become renowned since its founding by Guccio Gucci in 1921,» explains Frida Giannini, Gucci’s new Creative Director, who took the reins from Tom Ford.
Speaking of the Italian fashion house’s latest contribution to the luxury goods market—a Fiat 500 customized by Frida Giannini—it is a perfect accessory for the fashion fans. The car is completed with Gucci’s trademark green and red stripe running down the side and bonnet and the Gucci logo on the wheels and sides.
Gucci is going back to its roots when it comes to design and memories. The nostalgia will hit its peek with the opening of the Gucci museum in Florence where an incredible archive of never-before-seen vintage bags will be displayed for public viewing.
Besides, birthday celebration will be marked by the relaunch of the brand’s signature moccasins, loafers, sunglasses and scarves. In addition to that, Gucci promises fashion-lovers to recreate some of the brands most iconic bags. The 1921 collection, named after Gucci’s founding year, will feature reworked version of old classics.

But it’s not all about the past, Gucci has also started its 24-hour music channel for the iPod to make sure the brand is well positioned for some greater things in the future. Smart move. Happy birthday, Gucci!
