Timberland on the Lookout for Best Green Handbag Design Ideas

For the second year in a row, Timberland is sponsoring “Best Green Handbag” category as part of The Independent Handbag Designer awards. The brand has announced a call for submissions for all talented handbag designers in its blog and invites creatives to join the competition and pitch their ideas of green bags.

The deadline for submissions is April 30. Winners will be announced on June 15.

The Green Bag category winner will be awarded with a chance to work with the brand on creating new bag models.

«At Timberland we’re passionate about design, and we’re passionate about protecting the outdoors… we’d love to work with a great designer on putting the two things together in a beautiful, responsible way!», say Timberland team in their official call for submissions.

According to Timberland, the green bag should consist of organic recycled materials (organic cotton, hemp, bamboo), non-toxic dies. As far as design components such as zippers, buttons, clasps are concerned, they should be  made from recycled metal or reused pieces. Moreover, the brand emphasizes that the No.1 green bag will be completely recyclable at the end of its life.

The Independent Handbag Designer Awards is held for the fifth year. It is presented by inStyle magazine and HandbagDesigner101 online resource.
