Harley-Davidson Recieves a Pope Benedict’s Blessing

Harley-Davidson is getting ready for the next June big event, the celebration of its 110th anniversary in Rome together with thousands of international riders and fans.

Yesterday, on October 3, Willie G. Davidson, grandson of one of Harley-Davidson’s founders and his son, Bill Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum, met with Pope Benedict XVI to launch the countdown to this event. The CEOs presented two commemorative motorcycle gas tanks to the Pope for a blessing.

The tanks, signed by Pope Benedict, Willie G. and Bill will be mounted on two motorcycles. One of them will be displayed at theHarley-DavidsonMuseuminMilwaukee, and the other will be auctioned to support the Good Samaritan Foundation. Last year, the company auctioned a motorcycle that was signed by the stars of Captain America: The First Avenger to support Disabled American Veterans.

The Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary Celebration in Rome will take place on June 13—16, 2013. Fans and riders will enjoy a party in the Port of Ostia, a parade through the heart of Rome, two headlining concerts at Stadio Olimpico and a papal bike blessing at St. Peter’s Square.

The second main event will tale place in Milwaukee, from August 31 to September 2. It will include fan-organized rides to the city, a party on the shores of Lake Michigan, a massive parade, activities at theHarley-DavidsonMuseumand three headlining concerts.

The company will be celebrating the anniversary all year long globally. Freedom, rebellion and authenticity are three core values that the brand will be manifesting at 12 events existing motorcycle gatherings in 11 countries.
