To honor one of the most cherished sports, Ketel One Vodka is launching the inaugural Ketel One Cup golf tournament. Teeing off this summer, it will take place in seven cities, at some of the US most prestigious golf courses, where amateur teams will vie for a chance to play in the national tournament this fall.
To compete for one of the 25 available spots in each regional tournament, consumers will register their team of four on the Ketel One Facebook page and answer a few simple questions. To ensure their foursome makes it in the tournament, each team will have to earn votes from their Facebook friends in order to move to the top of the leader board. The final teams with the most votes and the best submission form in each market will be announced on June 10.
Playing in a four-person shamble format, each member tees off and then plays individual stroke play until each group member has holed out. Two winning teams will be selected at each tournament to advance to the national Ketel One Cup championship: one with the best overall score, and one closest to the pin winner.
In addition to the seven local tournaments, Ketel One is partnering with the World Golf Tour (WGT) to host a nationwide virtual tournament. Kicking off on June 1, it provides the opportunity to play virtually on one of the world’s premiere golf courses. The winner of the virtual tournament will be announced on August 5 and awarded a spot to participate in the Ketel One Cup national game.
By utilizing a virtual component to a real-life game, Ketel One is entering unchartered territory that very few brands have conquered before. The virtual tournament will allow anyone in the country to participate in the Ketel One Cup and live the luxury experience from their own home.
The national tournament will be held from October 28-30, when 15 foursomes will compete for the championship title of the Ketel One Cup. The winning team will receive a dream golf trip of their choice, including four days, three nights and three rounds of golf at one of the following destinations—Bandon, Ore., Kohler, Wis., Pebble Beach, Calif., or Pinehurst, N.C.
