LEGO Released an Animated Video to Celebrate Its 80-Year History

It takes a lot to be in hearts of consumers for decades, inspire them and help them live a brighter life. The LEGO brand, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, has a lot to tell about its path to success and the inspiration and love which drove the company to the heights. Staying loyal to its kids style, the brand released a 17-minute long animated film, which immortalizes the life of Danish toymaker Ole Kirk Christiansen, who founded the company back in 1932 as well as puts the lives of his successors—his son Godtfred, the second owner of LEGO, and current owner Kjeld, the founder’s grandson— into the spotlight.

The film evokes nostalgia feelings and takes audience back into their childhood, when they constructed various buildings and creatures with the legendary LEGO bricks. As it turns out, in the very beginning, the company manufactured and sold wooden toys—the films offers a deeper insight into the history of the LEGO Group, unveiling little but important facts and showing the human face of one of the largest toys businesses across the globe.

The brand also reveals some interesting facts from its history in a recent press release. “The LEGO Group can look back onto an impressive success story: in 1932 Ole Kirk Christiansen founded a production company for wooden toys in the Danish city of Billund. His central idea was, ‘Only the best is good enough.’ The motto stayed, but other than that, a lot changed. The company has moved from the originally small workshop back in 1932, to become the third largest producer of play materials in the world. It is currently represented in more than 130 countries with approx. 10,000 employees. The name “LEGO” comes from the two Danish words ‘leg’ and ‘godt,’ which translates to ‘play well,’writes the press release.
