Louis Vuitton that celebrated the holiday season with breathtaking circus-styled window displays, has just announced its collaboration with perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud to debut in the fragrance sector.

The luxury brand that specifies on a wide range of products including trunks, clothes, footwear and accessories still doesn’t have its own branded perfume. Though in 1920-30s it marketed three fragrances they were soon discontinued.

Being the third-generation scentmaker, Cavallier-Belletrud created exclusive perfumes for a number of luxury brands including the Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey, Christian Dior Midnight Poison and Jean Paul Gaultier Classique.

The name, launch date, and concept of the Louis Vuitton fragrance is not disclosed yet but the brand’s spokesperson says that Cavallier-Belletrud will have enough time to travel in search of inspiration to create the new perfume. Once it is created, it will appear exclusively in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide.

Harper’s Bazaar guesses that the notes of the new fragrance will remind either of Marc Jacobs’ LV recent collections and “could be spicy, exotic and decadent à la S/S 11”, or it could be sexy, naughty and inspired by Kate Moss who starred on the A/W catwalk.
