Lush Cosmetics supports the U.K. anti-fracking movement with an in-store and online 10-day campaign

For ten days starting July 18, all 105 stores of Lush Cosmetics, a U.K. brand of natural handmade ethical cosmetics, will be taking part in the ‘Don’t Frack our Future’ campaign, organised by the Frack Off environmentalists to stop fracking near the West Sussex village of Balcombe, Lancashire.

The shops’ windows and floors, as well as staff’s uniform will be featuring the “Frack Off” branding, while Lush’s social-media channels will be promoting an animation explaining the process of unconventional oil and gas extraction in the context of Doreen Stopforth’s family resistance to fracking in Lancashire. Watch the video below:

Tamsin Omond, head of global campaigns at Lush Cosmetics, comments on the campaign:“When we inform our customers that fracking and unconventional gas extraction is coming to the UK and Ireland they freak out.  The idea that politicians are risking our water supply and our air quality so that energy companies can drill deep beneath our land goes against all common sense. This campaign will educate tens of thousands of people about the threat of fracking to their communities. With the success of community-led activism in France, Bulgaria, Australia, the United States and all around the world, I have no doubt that we will keep the frackers from our land.”
