LVMH Launches “The Art of Craftsmanship Revisited: New York” Exhibit

LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Inc. and Parsons The New School for Design announced the opening of “The Art of Craftsmanship Revisited: New York” exhibit, which showcases the work of local artisans and Parsons students, and the heritage of LVMH brands.

This exhibit, part of the multi-faceted program and student contest that LVMH and Parsons launched in late 2009 to celebrate artisanry, will be held in the historic homes in Nolan Park on Governors Island in New York City every Saturday and Sunday from June 5-27, open free to the public.

The next and final phase of the Craftsmanship program will be a panel discussion on Artisanry’s “Past, Present and Future” on June 22, 2010. At the panel, there will also be a screening of a 25-minute documentary, including an overview of the program and highlights of the New York artisans’ work.

Renaud Dutreil, Chairman of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton in North America, said: “This Exhibit allows us to expose thousands of New Yorkers and visitors to the City to the enormous talent of our local artisans and to see the work of our next generation of design talent come alive. In artisanry, like in luxury, it takes skill, talent and hours of precise and passionate work to create every product. Additionally, we are delighted to participate in the rebirth of Governors Island, which is an important part of New York’s history and furthers our goal of making New York an even more exciting place to live.”
