midem Presents New Marketing Campaign Competition

midem announces the launch of a brand new marketing campaign competition which will reward the most innovative and creative use of music in marketing.The midem marketing campaign competition offers advertising, marketing and communication agencies, as well as record labels and artists’ managers, the opportunity to present their campaign in front of a qualified audience made up of record industry members, technology company executives, brands and members of the media.

The call for entries to the competition is now open and entries must be made before November 15, 2011.

10 finalists will be selected by Contagious magazine, cited as “the ad industry’s authority on creativity and innovation.” Will Sansom, Contagious Editor, commented, “Today’s connected consumer isn’t looking for traditional marketing messages telling them what they are going to buy and when –  they are looking for entertaining, relevant and meaningful experiences. Being generous with great content such as music may be a sure-fire way to drive engagement for a brand, but it can also help artists to gain exposure on a mass scale. Contagious is proud to partner with midem in helping to judge a selection of recent marketing campaigns which showcase innovative uses of music – be it through converging media platforms, emerging technologies or the embracing of profound shifts in popular culture.”

The 10 finalists will attend midem to present their campaigns in front of a jury composed of music industry professionals, brands and advertising executives as well as the media. The name of the winner will be disclosed on Monday, 30 January, during the new Visionary Monday’s programme. The winner will then have the opportunity to present the campaign in front of the conference’s participants.

Candidates are welcome to submit more than one project providing that each campaign ran in 2011 and includes a strong musical dimension. Each campaign will be judged on its force and creativity, the relevance of its concept, as well as its results compared to its objectives.

Visionary Monday will launch at midem 2012. Its programme will focus on audience engagement and include short presentations, debates, consumer surveys and the results of the weekend’s flagship competitions and events.
