Motorola Supports Non-profit Organizations in the USA with the Empowerment Grants Program

On June 6, the Motorola Mobility Foundation, the philanthropic subdivision of Motorola Mobility, Inc., announced the launch of the Empowerment Grants program. The program offers an opportunity for non-profit organizations to apply for funding to empower their communities. Three areas are focused—education, health and wellness and community.

The Empowerment Grants program supports everyday real-life efforts to reinforce technology to build stronger communities. All eligible non-profit organizations have the opportunity to enhance their communities and provide technology-based training for teachers, mentors and community leaders. New and emerging technologies will be available for non-profit organizations due to funding by the Empowerment Grants.

«The Motorola Mobility Foundation seeks to empower communities across the country to live in a connected and meaningful way,» said Eileen Sweeney, director of the Motorola Mobility Foundation. «With the Empowerment Grants program, we can create a gateway for non-profit organizations to tap into Motorola Mobility’s talent, technology and funding.»

Eligible applicants are dynamic community organizations that are making a significant contribution to the social fabric of their communities. Applicants must be a registered or incorporated 501(c) (3) non-profit organization or a NCES school or school district; have an operating budget under $5 million; can be an online program based in the U.S., or a U.S. national program, or must be based in the U.S. and serve communities in these states California, Illinois, Massachusetts or Pennsylvania; and be an online or national program aligned with funding priorities in the areas of education, health and wellness and community. Organizations can submit a written application online. Applications for Empowerment Grants will be accepted through Friday, July 15. Grantees will be notified in September.

Applicants are required to submit a 3-5 minute video describing the program that is requesting funds for an Empowerment Grant and how digital technology could be used to further enhance that program. All videos must be uploaded to Motorola Foundation YouTube site prior to submitting the written application.
