The ‘Science Express’ is the most visited mobile science exhibition in India that was launched in 2007. Each year, the train’s exhibitions address a new topic. This year’s theme is ‘Biodiversity Special’. The initiative is being supported by Nestlé India, Nestlé Research and Development Centre India, the Embassy of Switzerland and other companies. Nestlé India first joined the initiative in 2009 to highlight the importance of nutrition and since then has been addressing different issues educating young Indians on water and food topics.
Science graduate volunteers will travel onboard to provide visitors with profound information on the issue. The train will be travelling across the country until the end of the year.
Visiting the train school age children will be provided with information about recycling and renewable energy through a series of interactive demonstrations, audio-visual tools and presentations. The exhibit features toy solar cars to demonstrate how solar power is a renewable source of energy and using old plastic bags to create new material for handmade bags.
Nestlé support many other educating and youth-supporting programs around the world including the sponsorship of Salzburg Festival and youth sports development programs.
