Nike has created a new video called ‘Voices,’ which celebrates women in sport and the 40th anniversary of Title IX—the famous U.S. legislation that let female athletes make their dreams about sport achievements come true.

In the film, four outstanding female athletes from three generations tell their stories saying they have always been playing by their own rules. These women are: Joan Benoit Samuelson, a legendary distance runner and first women’s marathon gold medalist in Los Angeles in 1984; Lisa Leslie, a four-time gold medalist and WNBA pioneer; Marlen Esparza, a USA Boxing’s 6-time national champion and member of the USA Women’s Boxing team; and Diana Taurasi, a two-time gold medalist, guard for Phoenix Mercury and former WNBA MVP.

As the film goes on young girls resembling the athletes in their childhood appear on the screen. They speak with voices of grown up women and embody the spirit of women in sport of the future.

‘Voices’ tells viewers about overcoming challenges, about incredible strengths and willpower and inspires young female athletes  not to be afraid of any challenges and ‘play by their own rules.’ The film launched on Nike Women Facebook on June 23 and will run on ESPN and ABC Family on June 23, and on ESPN June 26. Nike has been supported women in sport for many years through various projects including ‘I’m Making Myself,’ Rock Victorious and Nike Women’s Marathon to name a few.
