Nike continues its football initiative together with Pep Guardiola, global ambassador for The Chance and FC Barcelona Manager. ‘The Chance’ 2012 project that they have launched together searches for football talent and gives young amateur footballers an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities on an elite stage. Since the program launch in 2010, thousands of footballers could take a chance to work on a global level.
Young, over 16 years old footballers chosen from 55 countries will show off their skills during The Chance trials in 2012. Nike coaches will select the best 100 players and send them to a global final at FC Barcelona youth academy. The lucky winners will experience elite coaching, while nutritionists, psychologists and fitness conditioners will supervise them. They will also explore Nike SPARQ, a training and conditioning system that helps build better athletes.
In the end, Nike will choose the best 16 footballers from the global finals. They will go on a special week training tour meeting with such giant teams as Manchester United and a U.S. Youth National Team. Young winners will have a chance to be noticed and win a professional contract.
Starting March 1, international players can apply as a team by building a ‘team page’ on The Chance app on the Nike Football Facebook page. The program updates can be followed at @NikeFootball on Twitter. Nike scouts will select teams to enter their local country final.
Pep Guardiola said: «The Chance gives young players from around the world the opportunity to showcase their talent and develop their skills on a global stage. The program celebrates those players with passion for the game and the best technique, giving them the chance to get noticed and reach their potential.»
The Chance has also a part for creative minds. Young photographers and film makers can participate in the program, working with Spike Lee, the ambassador for the project, the film director, writer, producer and actor. The winner will co-work with the team who will shoot the Spring 2013 Nike Sportswear campaign and travel to Barcelona to cover the global finals.
