Nike SB Zoom Paul Rodriguez 4 Collection Celebrates Urban Sport

Having taken a short rest after its recent World Basketball Festival in New York, Nike is going to pay homage to another urban sport, skateboarding, with the upcoming launch of the Zoom Paul Rodriguez 4 shoe. The new range will be available for purchase starting August 21, and ahead of the release, Nile SB is unveiling a set of videos featuring Paul Rodriguez, an American professional skateboarder and actor, which were shot to support the new line.

The Zoom Paul Rodriguez 4 is officially named the 4th generation signature sneaker from Paul Rodriguez. In his interviews on the dedicated webpage he explains what the new sneakers mean to him and why he believes they are perfect for any skater. He also tells about his attitude towards hip-hopper Nas (Paul is a huge fan of him, as it turns out), NYC and skating in this city—one theme, one video. The set of spots also includes two videos showcasing the commercial itself where Rodriguez demonstrates his skills (with the voiceover is by Nas) and Theotis Beasley’s thoughts on Paul Rodriguez and the P-Rod.

«I just wanted to cut off any of the excess fat. Strictly a performance skateboarding shoe,» says Paul on the new line. «I’m trying to reach the perfect compromise where you have cushioning, but not too much so you still have plenty of board feel, so it’s kind of a challenge. At first glance I thought it was a simple shoe, but there’s a story to be told. With this one, it’s from scratch. There’s nothing out there really like it, and I’m proud of it. It reflects this time in my life. I’m past all the flashiness and all the fanciness. Now it’s back to the roots and being a pure skater

But there will be not only shoes to come from Rodriguez and Nike SB in a week. The Signature 5-Pocket Jean, which is also to be available for purchase soon, is a perfect match for the new sneakers, mirroring the new Zoom Paul Rodriguez 4 model’s deceptive simplicity by adding several low-key technologies to an easy-to-wear design.
