Nike to Release a Black Collection in Honor of the Black History Month

Nike has several new editions in stock to celebrate 2011 Black History Month. Every year, the brand, which is well-known for supporting a variety of projects related to the Afro-American culture, releases new products to pay tribute to the big date. In 2011, the sport gear manufacturer has come up with a set of new stunning footwear and apparel in the black palette. The holiday pack includes four sneakers celebrating three cult basketball players Julius Irving (Dr. J), Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant, plus Nike Air Force 1 and a Destroyer jacket—all in black.

With the new edition, Nike celebrates the pioneering spirit of these iconic basketball players and pays homage to achievements of the athletes and the nation they represent. The spmewhat gritty sneakers are decorated with metal eyelets and accessories as well as gold stitching, which makes them really impressive. “You’ll also find a woodblock cut print around the upper by artist Hele Woodruff, adding another chapter to the pioneer story,” says the description to the new pack on the brand’s website.
