Nokia Shorts 2011 Uncover Film-Making Potential of Nokia N8

Nokia has teamed up with Vimeo to demonstrate the fantastic HD film-making potential of pocket-size Nokia N8 and announced Nokia Shorts 2011—a filmmaker competition. The grand prize amounts to USD 10,000  plus the finalists’ works will debut on Edinburg Film Festival later this year.

Nokia’s video-shooting technology has reached the heights of film-making: this is the main idea behind the ongoing as well as other film-making contests initiated by Nokia. This time, mobile phone brand is not only looking for good quality videos, but real short movies. So, on the first stage of the contest, the applicants will have to submit their scripts. Only authors of the most interesting pitches will be provided with equipment (2 Nokia N8 models) and funds ($ 5,000) for turning their idea into a movie.

The video duration should be under 2 minutes. The word count of the text shall amount to about 100 words.

Submissions are accepted from March 24 until April 17th 2011.

«Pocket-size Nokia N8 adds a new dimension to mobile HD filmmaking. But like any advance in camera technology, it’s waiting for artists willing to try something new. That’s why we’re putting up a top prize of $10,000, and premieres at the Edinburgh Film Festival for all the finalists of Nokia Shorts 2011», say Nokia and Vimeo on the project page.
