Penélope Cruz Fronts Loewe’s SS 2013 Campaign

Penélope Cruz has starred in Loewe’s SS 2013 campaign, which features a collection inspired by Gala, wife and muse to the surrealism genius Salvador Dalí.

The campaign for the Spanish brand, which has 170 boutiques around the globe, was shot by acclaimed fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott at Palacio Marqués de Villafranca in Madrid (the duo are working for the brand for the fifth consecutive season).

The passion, elegance, sophistication of the brand’s new collelction of bags and glasses is reflected in the stills with a baroque touch. In the visuals, which are available now, one can spot two iconic Loewe bags—the Amazona and the Flamenco,—as well as two new bags—the Paseo (inspired by the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art), and the Cartero, which appeared at the Spring Summer 2013 fashion show.

It’s the first time Penélope, the only Spanish Oscar-winning actress, is fronting the campaign of one of the oldest Spanish brands, founded in 1846, and this turns to be a truly great match. “Penélope’s strong, sensual beauty has long been an inspiration for me as a designer and a constant reference for my ideal of Spanish womanhood since I came to Loewe,” commented Stuart Vevers, Loewe’s Creative Director. Cruz tells about the new collaboration in the video below.
