Porsche Encourages Designers to Develop a Sports Car Pattern and Win Tuition

Porsche teamed up with Designboom to launch a competition for those who “have an abundance of imagination, a passion for cars and a resourcefulness to achieve amazing and unexpected results” in developing patterns for the Porsche Cayman model range. The entrants are encouraged to unveil both repeating and non-repeating original designs, which will be featured on both sides, back, front as well as on the roof of the sports cars.

Those who want to participate in the ‘Radically Rorsche’ competition, are invited to visit the dedicated page to download EPS files to use them as the canvas for future pattern designs for the side, top,  front and rear views. They will also have to provide short description of their work in English to explain the idea. The finished works should be submitted to the website by January 1, and the public will be selecting best four designs from January 9 and through the end of the month. The chosen concepts will be implemented by Porsche on four real Cayman model range sports cars, and then their photos will be posted to the website for the next round of voting set to run from February 20 to March 30.

The overall winner of the competition, the entrant with the most adored pattern, will be offered a full paid scholarship for a Masters Degree in Visual Design at the Scuola Politecnica Di Design, located in Milan, Italy.  Of course, to receive the prize (which has a value of €12,600, but can’t be exchanged for money), he or she is supposed to fill in the applying form and be ready to take up the course on October 11 next year.
