Master students of Domus Academy from around the world have unveiled the fruit of their work as part of ‘Resource’ project initiated by Electrolux last year. Altogether, the ‘Resource’ kitchen features 9 novel concepts of futuristic appliances that consider sustainability and culture under the theme of ‘Re-source’. The launch of the project has coincided with 2011 Milan Design Week and has taken place before the closure of the entry to the annual Electrolux Design Lab.
All of the elements of ‘Re-source’ project have been created with the future in mind. Each of them enhances the sustainability of cooking and bears the cultural footprint of its creator (as announced earlier, students from Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Italy, Turkey, India, Taiwan, China, South Korea and Hong Kong were selected to take part in the project).
Lizotte who tutored the students in course of the project said, «This was a true collaboration, not just teaching. The impressive response shows a dynamic way of looking at appliance design, offering novel solutions for the kitchen environment.»
Let’s have a closer look into what the futuristic ‘Resource’ kitchen by Electrolux has to offer.
KEWA (Kinetic Efficient Water Appliance) created by Pietro Russomanno, Italy allows cleaning utensils and plates with air pressure. Special ‘water-blade’ is capable of cleaning a dish or a pan in no time at all, thus, allowing to save up water and energy.

Aeolus by Chi Rong Hsu from Taiwan is an innovative kitchen hood that filters and purifies the air in your kitchen and provides space for storing utensils.

Another appliance combining the functions of several home appliances is Breathe by a Turkish student Beyza Dogan. Not only does it ionize the air, it also provides ambient light that follows the natural cycle of the day.
Jumble by Zahira Ivelisse Crespo from Puerto Rico is a set of three induction plates that offer ‘cooking with a twist’: the cooking plates may revolve, which makes it easy to transfer the cooking vessel from one temperate zone to another. In a closed position, Jumble is very easy to store as it doesn’t require much of the space on your kitchen counter.

Other fantastic ideas that got real in ‘Resource’ Kitchen include a video cook book that provides virtual projection of recipes, a kitchen waste disposal appliance that allows recycling the organic waste with enzymes, and visually appealing wine fridge.
