The Salvatore Ferragamo fashion brand, which earlier released an art exhibition and a book inspired by the biography of its founder, has presented a new art project—“Walking Stories,” a series of webisodes about the love story, which “travels” around the locations that meant a lot to Salvatore Ferragamo.
The narration is packed with “surprising coincidences, unexpected revelations, and fortunate encounters”—all of them happen in different cities of the world, which adds an adventurous spirit to this somewhat surrealistic, but ultimately romantic film directed by Luca Guadagnino (Melissa P, I Am Love) and starring young actors Kaya Scodelario, Tom Ellis, Billy Manussen, Nathalie Buscombe, and Lee Roy Kunze.
There are three cities that became centers of the narration—each of them is significant for the brand. The story starts in Florence—the city of art, where the company’s headquarters are located—with an episode shot in the light and transparent visual style. The pilot piece introduces a shoe-less girl named Sarah, who one morning met a man in an LA park and fell in love… The story will continue in Los-Angeles, where Salvatore’s “shoemaker-to-the-stars” talent flourished, and Shanghai, “the epitome of the future, where new perspectives are constantly devised by relentless events.”
On the dedicated page of Salvatore Ferrogamo’s site, one may find the episodes along with Sarah’s diary, the behind-the-scenes videos and cast. Users can also “shop the story” by purchasing items they see on the actors.
