Samsung Introducing Two New Chrome OS-based Computers

Samsung has announced two new Chrome OS-based products, computers with Google’s Chrome operating system that was first introduced last year. The first one is a laptop, the improved Series 5 Chromebook, while the second one is called a Series 3 Chromebox and can function with a monitor.

Both computers look sleek and elegant and are lightweight. The Samsung Series 5 Chromebook boots up in just seven seconds, providing users with super fast experience while working on it. It features an Intel Celeron 867 Dual Core (1.3 GHz) processor sporting a 16GB SSD and 4GB of RAM. There are two models—with Wi-Fi only and with built-in 3G wireless feature from Verizon Wireless.

The Samsung Series 3 Chromebox is a compact but powerful computer with an Intel Celeron B840 Dual Core (1.9 GHz) processor and a 16GB SSD and 4GB of RAM as well as with a built-in 2×2 WLAN Wi-Fi. It can be connected to monitors up to 30-inches in size, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, or even an HDTV.

Chrome OS was developed to be fast, simple and secure and Google continues to improve it. The OS allows users to get online and access apps in just a few seconds and provides safety as it features in-built anti-virus that is constantly updated. The Chrome-based computers have a small memory but built-in cloud storage enables users to access their files securely from anywhere.

The Samsung Series 5 Chromebook and the Samsung Series 3 Chromebox are hitting the online stores including Amazon.com, Tiger.com, NewEgg.com, BestBuy.com and BHPhoto.com. today. The Series 5 Chromebook Wi-Fi model will retail at $449.99 while the 3G model costs $549.99. The Series 3 Chromebox Wi-Fi model is priced at $329.99.
