Heineken’s new effort, “Dropped,” aims to inspire men to become explorers, not just tourists. The beer brand is releasing a series of documentary-style “social experiments” that will see four guys dropped into challenging adventures, all to trigger their intrinsic survival mechanisms and motivate them to open new horizons.

Budweiser Brazil has introduced a whole new approach to friending people on Facebook. The beer brand is now testing special glasses, “The Buddy Cups,” which enable anyone to befriend a person by just clinking the cups together with him or her at a party. Thanks to a microchip that is embedded in the bottom of the glass, drinkers can make friends on Facebook instantly, when toasting.
Going against a basic principle of product design «form follows function», the American brewing giant Anheuser-Busch is experimenting with the packaging of its signature brand Budweiser for the sake of innovation. Starting May 6, the company will be rolling out nationwide a new format of cans—a bow tie-shaped aluminum can that echoes Budwiser’s bow tie logo. The new product does not substitute traditional cans and will be available in an 8-pack in the US only.
Heineken is re-inventing clubbing experience with the introduction of the Heineken Ignite beer bottle that detects and responds to people’s motion and sound vibrations. The prototype of the brand’s “first smart beer bottle” was revealed at 2013 Design Week in Milan on April 9 as part of Heineken’s Lounge of the Future concept. For the project, the digital team of the beer giant has collaborated with Tribal DDB Amsterdam and a selection of other partners and experts from various fields.
Heineken is preparing a series of activities for the Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) to provide the visitors and guests of the 12th annual festival with an enhanced cinematographic experience. The brand’s program for the festival, which is taking place April 17–28 in NYC, includes sessions, special events and after-parties and even prizes for filmmakers.
Five winning designs from the four international Heineken-inspired artists—Andy Audsley from Australia, Fernando Degrossi from Brazil and Anna Ptasińska and Bartek Bak from Poland—have just been named the finalists of the second annual design contest devoted to the brand’s 140th anniversary, «Your Future Bottle» 2013.
