Coca-Cola has found a solution to the problem of social-media obsession. While connecting users to their family and friends virtually, these platforms actually take the excitement of an eye-to-eye communication out of their lives. The soda brand has borrowed a design of medical collar for dogs to create The Social Media Guard that in fact looks just like a huge post-operative collar for pets and makes it impossible for a person to bend the neck and look down onto a device’s screen.

Controversial ad doesn’t live up to its predecessors

In the past, Coca Cola found success tapping into the zeitgeist of  American Culture and then offering itself as a solution to the fundamental issues of the day. When done successfully,  Coca Cola has managed to transcend the fizzy drinks category and become a real cultural icon—a rallying point around which all Americans could gather.

Coca-Cola has released a heart-warming short documentary which is dedicated to the joy of the family reunion on the Lunar New Year in China. A great number of parents there have to work and live as migrants in bigger cities to support their kids financially, so the holiday is the only short period of time they can see each other. The “Home Alone Kids” film narrates the story of three families from Longsheng, Guangxi Province that reunite after long months of living apart.

To support the global (RED) anti-AIDS movement, Coca-Cola has launched a dance-focused campaign, inspiring consumers to dance for health of others. The effort started ahead of World AIDS Day, December 1, #CokeREDMoves, encourages both amateur and professional dancers from across the globe to record the Coke dance performance and send it in—all to generate more donations to help end mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015.

Coca-Cola Zero wants to help people feel less awkward in their traditional, still usually ridiculous Christmas sweaters. The garment, which causes heartache to those who have to wear it at family Xmas parties, now can be fundamentally redesigned. The brand has launched an online destination, Coke Zero Sweater Generator, inviting its US consumers to come and create a Christmas jumper design for a chance to get the physical incarnation of their dream jumper.

Ford Motor Company and The Coca-Cola Company have collaborated to design a car with sustainability in mind. Together they have presented the first-ever vehicle with the interiors that feature fabric made of the same renewable materials that are used to make Coca-Cola’s PlantBottles. This is the first time the technology behind the Coca-Cola plant-based PET plastic bottle was leveraged to create something not in the packaging field.
