Peter Alwin from National Institute of Design in India is the winner of the Electrolux Design Lab 2010 competition for inventing The Snail, the Micro Induction Heating. The announcement was made at the finals in London on September 23, 2010, at 100% Design London, the UK’s leading architecture and design event.

The top 8 concepts have now been chosen in the 2010 edition of Electrolux Design Lab. The 2010 competition focuses on creative solutions for compact living. The brief asked industrial design students to consider how people will prepare and store food, wash clothes, and do dishes in the homes of 2050, when 74% of the global population are predicted to live in an urban environment.

The new online project “Perfunkt” developed by the Huge studio and the Department of the 4th Dimension production company for AEG-Electrolux, which specializes in producing gas and electrical kitchen appliances, is dedicated to those who love meat,— now you can open one eye—crusty bread, and many more, including martinis and pancakes.
Electrolux wanted a unique and powerful tool to show all the qualities in the newest Ergorapido vaccum and the certainly got that. The company worked with GreatWorks and Swedish artist Tobias Allanson to illustrate all of the great features of the machine and the result was a working piece of art made from one of the vaccums.
