BMW has collaborated with internationally celebrated French design duo, brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, to create a state-of-the-art installation for the Salone del Mobile 2013, taking place in Milan April 9-14. The new construction named QUIET MOTION mirrors the BMW’s design philosophy and the fair’s mission to showcase the innovative approaches in the field of furniture and living space design.

The Design Business Association, the UK organization that measures and rates the effectiveness of design in a range of categories by using commercial data to evaluate the success, announced the winners of its annual Design Effectiveness Awards, which included projects by leading design agencies. The ceremony, which was held in London on February 16, brought together 450 industry leaders, who received 62 gold, silver and bronze trophies, awarded by the association this year in 12 categories.

Renowned product and packaging design agency Product Ventures is pleased to announce that its design for the Petrol Bags™ All-In-One Carrier and Camera Support has been selected to receive the 2011 International Design Excellence Award (IDEA). For over 30 years, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) has recognized through their preeminent international design competition, the IDEA Awards design excellence in product, sustainability, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts.

Citroën in cooperation with France-based aerodynamic simulation software company EXA announced EV Design Challenge—a contest for students of Royal College of Art in London. The future designers were tasked with creating a compelling ultra-compact model that could establish a unique Citroën e-vehicle aesthetic for the future. In course of the challenge, the car manufacturer unveiled some key industry figures to the students, thus providing them a better insight into car design industry. It also organized a trip to PSA design center — where the most eye-catching concepts of Peugeot and Citroën’s models are born.
