On February 11, Nestlé announced the opening of nominations for its 2012 Prize in Creating Shared Value. The official announcement was made at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) global conference in Delhi, India. This prize was organized back in 2009 in an effort to celebrate the most innovative projects that offer feasible solutions related to the number of agricultural issues of the developing countries on the basis of sustainable development principles. Such issues include access to, or management of, water, improving the lives of farmers and rural communities, or providing better nourishment to communities suffering from nutritional deficiencies.

In partnership with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.), Nestlé HealthCare Nutrition launched the ‘Be R.E.A.D.Y.’ safety initiative at A.S.P.E.N.’s Clinical Nutrition Week last week to educate pediatric health care professionals on safe enteral (tube) feeding practices for hospitalized kids.

UK-based Fairtrade Foundation announced it would be running Fairtrade Fortnight between 28 February and 13 March. Fairtrade Fortnight is the annual event organized by the Foundation in an effort to promote all kinds of assistance it provides to people in developing countries. This year’s event is dedicated to cotton industry and millions of cotton growers.

On the first day of 2011, Nestlé, the famous packaged food company founded in 1866 in Switzerland, launched a massive national campaign to commemorate a big date, the company’s 90-year business presence in Brazil. The advertising initiative entitled ‘Retrospective’ features highlights of the most remarkable events of the past decades to remind consumers of the most important turning points in the county’s history, which Nestlé has lived through together with the nation.

On December 9 in LA, Friskies® brand cat food premiered ‘Cat Diaries: The First Ever Movie Filmed by Cats’ and gave viewers a look into their magical world. From apartments to homes, from New York to California, viewers are taken on a tour across the country to see life from a cat’s perspective.

Andreas Larsson, who was recognized the best sommelier in the world in 2007, Ghislain de Marsily, a hydrogeologist and member of the French Académie des Sciences, and Yu Hui Tseng, world renowned tea master… What do these people have in common? The answer is, they specialize and must know everything about…water, its origin and nuances of its taste. The experts of this field joined their efforts to present a photography book dubbed ‘Realms of Water’ (‘A journey of understanding to the sources of natural mineral water’). It is a joint project by Editions Textuel and Nestlé Waters International who sponsored the initiative.
