Last Thursday, April 30, Tesla and Space X CEO Elon Musk presented a new range of solar batteries —Tesla Energy for households and businesses.
Highly efficient suitcase-sized solar batteries for home, Powerwall, are available in 7 kWh and 10 kWh for $3,000 and $3,500 respectively. Bothe units can be combined in a solar panel. The 10 kWh is supposed for energy backup, while the 7 kWh is for daily use even after the sun is down.
Tesla’s distribution partners for the Powerwall units will be Treehouse, Fronius, Solar Edge and Green Mountain Power.
The PowerPack for businesses will be available in 100kWh units; the price will be $250 per kWh. Demand for PowerPack is high, taking into account that each of 2,500 pre-orders will require at least 10 packs to satisfy energy needs of an average industrial customer. The Powerwall batteries have made 38,000 in less than a week. Deliveries begin in late summer.
