Twitter Celebrates 5th Anniversary, Teaches History Lesson

Today Twitter celebrates its 5th anniversary. Rather than throwing a huge party, Twitter founder, Jack Dorsey has introduced a lesson on Twitter history, in the form of Tweets published… on Twitter, of course.

For those curious to learn more, Jack is using the hashtag  #twttr.

As time passed by, what was announced as a pioneering micro-blogging website has turned into an online phenomena of epic proportions as celebrities and politicians started using Twitter to publish their historical decisions  and thoughts (just check out the most notable moments of 2010 according to Twitter). By the way, in 2010 the total number of 25 billions of tweets were sent, while now, in March 2011, the average number of tweets published daily amounts to 140 mln.

On occasion of the Twitter’s 5th anniversary, Funny or Die, Inc. released an ironic ad that represents another lesson on the «long history of Twitter» and provides explanation of that phenomena.
