UNISEF teamed up with renowned artists and musicians to record an album titled ‘UNICEF’s Children First’ for and about kids in deprived communities all around the globe. The album which will be available for purchase starting January 11, will feature performances by a plethora of celebrities including Antonio Banderas, Anne Sofie von Otter, Rebecca Caine, Barbara Hendricks, and the Sylvia Young Theater School Children’s Choir.
The first track of the album is the official anthem of UNISEF, which premiered back in 2005. The 2011’s version of the song composed by Danish husband-and-wife tandem Carsten and Sissel Morch, in collaboration with American lyricist Lisa Freeman, is sung by Antonio Banderas and Anne Sofie von Otter. The concept behind the project is to describe the human life cycle in music and text, and the 13 compositions are perfectly supporting the whole idea (the sequence of tracks add to the whole picture as well). The titles of songs are ranging from quite optimistic ‘All of These Things You Are to Me’ and ‘Heaven’s Lullaby’ to a rather doom-and-gloom ‘Requiem.’
One third of the proceeds from selling the album will be contributed to the UNISEF charitable programs (‘UNICEF’s Children First’ will cost $12.99 with $3.00 from the sale of each CD to be donated the fund programs). Being founded in 1946, the organization has been helping children from poor communities across the world by struggling for their rights (for medical treatment, education, safe life, etc.). So far, the organization is operating in 190 countries.
The album will be available to purchase from online stores including Amazon in a week.
