Google unveiled its new feature called Google Instant, which makes searching much faster than it has been before. It is really innovative as now users can enter the enquiry and look at the results changing during the typing at the same time. Actually, it’s not the search-as-you-type, its search-before-you-type because the new feature predicts what you want to find.
It’s even not required to click on the “enter” button, as the results are dynamically updating on the page with literally each new added character. While an average searcher spends 9 seconds on entering one query (sometimes it takes up to 1.5 minute), Google Instant speeds it up to 4-7 per each search. Potentially, it can save 3.5 billion seconds, or 11 hours, every day if all users search with ‘new’ Google.
To experience the benefits of the feature, a user should be logged into his or her account, while surfing with Chrome 5 and 6, Firefox 3 and later versions, Safari 5 for Mac and Internet Explorer 8 browsers. Google Instant is being offered to users in Russia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the UK and the US, with other platforms and location to be included soon as well.
