YouTube is providing filmmakers and cinema fans from all around the globe with an awesome opportunity to watch shorts, screened at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, online. Those, who will not be able to attend this year’s event, which is taking place in NYC April 20-May1 and marks its 10th anniversary, can visit a the Screening Room channel on YouTube and so in some way feel the spirit of the festival, which was co-founded by Robert De Niro back in 2002.
The top video sharing site teamed up with Tribeca and American Express to bring the unique experience to film festival fanatics who don’t have an opportunity to see the indie short movies included to the event’s program from now through May 17. The channel now features five new works ‘Brink,’ ‘The Ignorant Bliss of Sun and Moon,’ ‘Loose Change,’ ‘Mr. Stache’ and ‘The Beaufort Diaries’ (a lovely story about a polar bear named Beaufort narrated by David Duchovny) with the new addition coming on Friday, April 29. It’s also noted, the they will present “short films from both past and present Tribeca Film Festivals,” so fans will be able to get a sort of a retrospective look at the mini film heritage of the festival.
The video sharing service describes the hub as follows, “The YouTube Screening Room is a platform for top films from around the world to find the audiences they deserve. This is your chance to not only watch great films from all corners of the globe, but also to converse with the filmmakers behind them. While the majority of these films have played at international film festivals, occasionally you’ll find films that have never before screened for wide audiences.” The festival fans also can watch the highlights from the event on the Tribeca Film channel.
