Bloom Announced ‘Best Design and Gifting Agency’ by Diageo

UK-based agency Bloom received the award as ‘Best Design and Gifting Agency’ at the Global Diageo Marketing Brilliance Awards. The ceremony was held on Wednesday night, March 23, at the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel in London.

Bloom was the only U.K. agency in this year’s winner list and was awarded for its Talisker Christmas Gift Seascape Pack.

Diageo Marketing Awards held this year is aimed at recognizing the agencies that delivered marketing  brilliance throughout 2010, in terms of concepts, their implementation and high standards of customer service. The awards celebrated the most notable works related to such Diageo’s brands as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Guinness and Talisker.

Bloom was commissioned by Diageo to create a Talisker Christmas gift pack that would communicate the power and uniqueness of the brand. With its product, Diageo target busy and successful men who value authentic experiences, such as Talisker’s maritime origin and its flavour. The agency was expected to create the pack that tells a story of how close are the ties between the whisky and the people who make it.

The design agency invited Cailean Maclean, a local photographer, to work on this project and choose the suitable scene. The image displayed on the pack was captured in a stormy weather off Tarskavaig, in the north-east of Skye. It reveals the savage temper of nature and people’s determination to confront it.

The Talisker brand name is printed on a cloth that reminds of a traditional sail material, which adds depth and authenticity to the whisky pack.
