Cartier: Once upon a Time, in Paris

Christmas is a great time not only for sharing gifts and eating holiday cakes, it also creates the perfect atmosphere for making marriage proposals. And Cartier, the iconic jewelry brand, is here with divine short films to remind us about this in a way that takes us back to the I love you, Paris cinema hit. The three films, shot by Italian director Luca Guadagnino are revolving around love, jewelry and Paris, and the plots are unfolding in three different parts of the megalopolis, which is one of the most romantic places around the globe.

The director, who was also nominated for Oscar for the Best Foreign Film I Am Love in 2011, teamed up with American screenwriter Xan Cassavettes to produce the three stories about love, with jewelry interwoven in each of them. The 5-minute films, shot at the rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, the Opéra and the Palais Royale, are dedicated to different moments of love and giving the red box with the engagement ring, that will tie the lives of the main characters for ever. The films premiered exclusively on the brand’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, are unveiling one of the most remarkable moment of relationship, when a family is actually born.

In the shorts, there’s a young couple, a son of a wealthy family and his fiancée, a couple of actors, who are moving from playing roles into living in love, and a mature couple, who are sitting in front of the steps of the Opéra Garnier, and remembering the day 35 years ago, when the man proposed to the woman. The films are starring Aurore Clément, Valentina Cervi, Marine Vacht and Hugo Becker among others who are just perfect in rendering the emotions and passion of one of the most vivid moments of life.

The brand, which is associated with splendor and romance, has also released the How far would you go for love art video featuring an original soundtrack by AIR, which can be downloaded on Cartirer’s Facebook page.
