The globally known fashion house Chanel is opening an online shop for selling fragrances. It was decided that the brand will start with scents and then introduce eyewear and accessories to the customers of the virtual store.
The house has appointed R/GA New York to make an e-commerce platform forthem to launch the boutique as soon as possible. Apparently, the decision to go online with selling luxury item was adopted to battle against the effects of the recession and to provide consumers with real brand products Recently, Freench court ordered eBay to pay 230.000 euros to Louis Vuitton for using mistypings of the brand’s name in search engines for redirecting users to its own store instead of the official company’s website, and Chanel wants to get all users who want to buy something from the brand’s collections instead of letting them shop in other online-places.
Another fashion company Marc Jacobs is plotting to launch its own virtual boutique for selling clothing and accessories as well as perfumes. The exact date when the online store will be opened is kept under wraps as for now, but it is set to happen later this year.
