Chevrolet, VW and Lexus Getting Ready for the Super Bowl

Chevrolet has got ready for the Super Bowl and launched an app for its fans. The Chevy Game Time app for Android and iPhone presents trivia questions and polls about what’s happening during the broadcast. 

The Chevy Game Time app is also available for a free download at chevy.com/gametime. Fans who download the app will receive a unique ‘license plate’ number. Consumers whose numbers match any plate in Chevy’s Super Bowl spots will win a vehicle.

Those who answer trivia correctly will be entered into drawings to win one of thousands of prizes from Chevrolet as well as Bridgestone, Motorola, the NFL and NFLShop.com, Papa John’s Pizza and Sirius XM Radio. Chevrolet will monitor the number of downloads as well as consumer activity within the app.

Chevrolet will run five ads during NBC’s Super Bowl broadcast on February 5. One of ads is a result of the competition that Chevrolet launched in September 2011. Created by Zach Borst, a 26-year-old from Long Island, New York it was chosen out of 198 works. The winner receives $25,000 for the 30-sec ad.

Another automaker, Volkswagen has created a commercial with dogs barking the Imperial March theme from Star Wars to run during the Super Bowl broadcast. ‘Bark Side’ features twelve dogs, selected from a pool of 40 candidates that were filmed in a group shots and individual shots. Volkswagen is also inviting viewers to create an Intergalactic Invite to the Big Game party on February 5 at vw.com/star-wars-invite.

Lexus will also place its ad in the Super Bowl for the first time. Lexus pays an estimated $3.5 million  to promote the 2013 Lexus GS 350. The 30-second Lexus commercial is scheduled to run during the first half of Super Bowl XLVI. A 15 second sneak-peek of the commercial can be seen on Lexus Facebook page and YouTube channel.
