Coley Porter Bell and DJ Ferry Corsten Mix It up for Olmeca Limited Edition

Brand design agency Coley Porter Bell has teamed up with world famous DJ Ferry Corsten to co-create a limited edition bottle for Pernod Ricard’s Olmeca tequila.

Corsten wanted a cool, contemporary bottle design to communicate his cutting edge electronic dance music. CPB presented different responses to the brief which were then modified with Corsten’s direction.

The final design consists of a matt-black bottle with a holographic label that glimmers hypnotically under club lights. It is intended to overcome the merchandising challenge of making a black bottle stand out in a dark night club bar.

The label design features both the Olmeca and the Ferry Corsten logos. The radiating lines in the design suggest that the fact clubbers are like a modern day tribe, worshipping the DJ in the same way an ancient tribe worshiped the sun three thousand years ago.

It was fantastic working with a creative person from another field,” said Stuart Humm, senior designer at Coley Porter Bell. “Ferry Corsten may not be a graphic designer, but he was very clear about what he wanted and in his directions. It was a great collaboration.”

The launch of the bottle is part of a promotion by Olmeca Tequila which also includes ‘Be the DJ’ an international search for the world’s best, undiscovered DJs and producers.  Fans will be invited to remix Ferry’s last single. Winners will be given a place at DJ school, led by Corsten. The promotion will be supported by a 7 city tour of Russia including a 15.000 capacity show in Moscow.
