Dr Pepper Snapple Group, one of soft drinks giants, announced in its press-release on February 08, it will publish caloric information on its product labels in order to help the consumer make informed choices.
The world-renowned soft drink producer has joined ‘Clear on Calories’ initiative and thus, pledges to provide true information on the nutrition value of each of its products. Containers of up to and including 20 oz. will show total calorie counts on the front. The caloric information will also be published on vending machines and fountain equipment.
This commitment by DPS supports Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative to fight childhood obesity in a generation.
The information on calories is already available on the labels of new batches of Dr Pepper, Squirt and Hawaiian Punch coming to the market.
“Voluntary industry steps such as Clear on Calories and our School Beverage Guidelines are giving parents better control of, and information about, the calories their children consume, but it doesn’t stop there for us,” said Larry D. Young, president and CEO of Dr Pepper Snapple Group. “We’re continuing to bring new reduced-calorie and functional beverages to the marketplace, and we’re looking at ways to reduce calories in existing products through proprietary flavor and sweetener blends. We’re also helping to create opportunities for young people to get out and get moving.”
Last week Dr. Pepper announced it plans a US-wide launch of ‘Dr Pepper Ten‘—a new low-calorie product preserving the classic taste of Dr Pepper.
