Ennio Morricone Is Composing Melodies for LG Smartphones

“Excellent music for excellent smartphones”—that might come as one of the New Year resolutions LG made in the end of 2010. On December 22, one of the leaders in the technology area announced its collaboration with 82-year old legendary movie composer Ennio Morricone (Once Upon a Time in America, The Untouchables and many more), who is writing ringtones for a new range of LG’s smartphones.

The list of 25 tracks will include 10 iconic melodies from one of best-loved soundtrack composers (who wrote scores for the iconic films such as Cinema Paradiso, The Mission and Love Affair) as well as 15 all-new exclusive pieces composed just for the brand. The first device to feature the divine tunes will be Optimus 2X—described as the world’s first dual-core phone, which will first go on sale this month in Europe. The developers are also planning to create a bunch of apps featuring Morricone-related content, which will be available for free. The applications will include photos and clips related to the musicians great contribution to the world cinema heritage.
