Guinness is encouraging the British to make cities a better place to live by implementing their urban regeneration projects. The famous beer brand collaborated with UnLtd, a global body supporting social entrepreneurs, and Rathbone, UK-based voluntary group to initiate the Bring It To Life Awards project. Guinness is inviting people aged 25 – 35 to contribute to their local communities and receive money prizes for their activity.
Social entrepreneurs who have brilliant initiatives of changing their communities in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester can enter for a chance to get six “development awards” worth £15,000, and 15 “catalyst awards” worth £2,200 each. The applications can be submitted to www.unltd.org.uk from May 27 through July 23. The applicants will be shortlisted in August 2010 and the winners are to be announced by the end of September 2010.
Paul Cornell, Guinness marketing manager, comments, “The awards bring to life the philanthropic legacy of Arthur Guinness and aim to have a long- term positive impact on thousands of people in local communities across Britain.”
The Award is one of the initiatives of The Arthur Guinness Fund, which was launched in 2009, the year of Guinness’ 250th anniversary, and provides funding (around €6 million per year) to social and art projects.
