Heineken, which launched its hilarious Open Your World campaign in December 2010 with the ‘The Entrance’ spot, is now coming up with a new stunning video, the long-awaited second spot of the campaign. The film, which premiered on YouTube yesterday, May 25, is called ‘The Date’ and features a couple which is walking through a huge Chinese restaurant, packed with musicians, guests, chefs, beautiful ladies and gentlemen and a magician with a rabbit.
«The Entrance was a very exciting introduction to our new global campaign, in our quest to make young men love Heineken,» says Cyril Charzat, Senior Director Global Heineken Brand. «After the most legendary party entrance, we were fired up to inspire men to step up their game in other situations.» The spot was a real hit since it generated 4 million views on YouTube in the first three weeks after it had been released. Hopefully, the new video, also created by Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, will be as successful at that one.
In the new hilarious advert is directed by Fredrik Bond, the leading character, who is extremely nice, dexterous and creative, unveils another story in the ‘Heineken legend’ style. The spot was shot in London and perfectly renders the atmosphere of a hip night out to the awesome 1960s Bollywood track ‘Jaan Pehechaan Ho.’ Soon, Heineken will also unveil a tongue-in- cheek ‘Legendary Making of’ video as well as a music video for the soundtrack along with consumer participation elements.
«With The Date, we are keen to show that we are not creating one hero but that in every Heineken drinker there is a legendary hero in the making,» adds Sandrine Huijgen, Manager Global Heineken Communication. She concludes, «We have started a great creative adventure as a brand, and as a team. We are just finding our voice and we have the firm motivation to continue on this path!»
